New Bulgarian advertising self-regulatory body launched
Date: 30/09/2009
The National Council for Self-Regulation (NCSR), the Bulgarian advertising self-regulatory body, launched yesterday at an official conference in Sofia attended by WFA, representatives of European and national advertising industry bodies, NGOs and the Bulgarian regulatory authorities. The NCSR has been set up to help ensure that all marketing communications are prepared with a due sense of professional responsibility to the consumer and the society.
The project has had the full support of the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) as well as of the Bulgarian EU Consumer Protection Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva, who in a video address at the conference praised the efforts in setting up NCSR and stressed that "self-regulation is, if used correctly, an instrument of good governance".
With the launch of this project, advertising self-regulation is now operational in 23 of the 27 EU Member States, covering 97% of the EU's population. EASA continues to promote effective self-regulation as an alternative policy option for advertising in the remaining EU Member States.
WFA continues to be a committed and active supporter of this project. For more information please contact Malte Lohan [email protected]
