Date: 10/09/2008
On Tuesday, September 9, 2008 WFA hosted the 6th Global Advertising Summit in Atlanta, bringing together the main constituents of the global advertising industry (representing advertisers, agencies, media owners, technology enablers) to discuss the common challenges faced by the industry and to help align positions and strategies.
The Summit featured introductory presentations by Miguel Pestana (VP Global External Affairs, Unilever), Stephan Loerke (WFA Managing Director) and Randall Rothenberg (President & CEO, Interactive Advertising Bureau U.S.) who looked in turn at the experience of the food industry in global discussions on advertising self-regulation vs. marketing restrictions, how innovations in policy making could impact the marketing industry and growing controversy around online advertising and privacy. WFA Members can login and download these presentations below.
The following break-out sessions also took place:
1. Future-proofing self-regulation: does our model sufficiently reflect a changing reality?
2. Setting privacy standards for online advertising amid calls for stricter safeguards
3. Improving communication and public perception around privacy & online advertising
