WFA Managing Director, Stephan Loerke, joined 800 invitees at the World Economic Forum's (WEF) annual Global Agenda Council in Abu Dhabi on Oct 9-11. WEF organizes 79 Global Agenda Councils dealing with issues ranging from nuclear safety, climate change and population growth to nanotechnology and counter-terrorism. Each Council sets out to formulate and execute an initiative, in its field, which has the potential to address a major global challenge. WFA was invited to participate in the Council for Media Entertainment & Information.

The group, which included executives from the Walt Disney Company, British Telecom and CNN devised an initiative to use storytelling and new media to drive the transformation of learning and education globally. The focus goes to Davos 2012 when an awards scheme will be held to identify the most effective use of interactive media for educational purposes, in order to upscale a global roll out with assistance from the private sector.

The Summit alternated Agenda Council sessions and plenary sessions, which included addresses from former UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, and the U.A.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
