New Zealand QSRs tackle health issues
Back to the overview
On the invitation of the Association of New Zealand Advertisers (ANZA) and the New Zealand's Food Industry Group (FIG), leading quick service restaurant (QSR) brand owners gathered at the NZ Heart Foundation's offices in Auckland in November to discuss the industry's response to the country's health challenges. ANZA CEO, Lindsay Mouat, reports that the move comes in direct response to the United Nations High Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases, which called for collaborative partnership across sectors.
While a number of companies have been working separately to progressively reformulate products and use healthier ingredients, it was generally agreed that a collaborative industry approach would be preferable. A further meeting to develop specific action areas is planned for February 2012.
