New President for ADVAN (Nigeria)

The Advertisers Association of Nigeria recently held its Annual General Meeting and elected a new executive council. Mr. Kola Oyeyemi, General Manager Consumer Marketing MTN Nigeria. Mr Oyeyemi has been appointed by ADVAN to succeed Mr. Idy Enang as president and will serve in that capacity for the next two years.

Kolawole Olatunde Oyeyemi (42) started his career in broadcasting before he moved into Public Relations in 1991. He spent five and a half years as an advertising agency executive combining the role of creative writer with that of a PR practitioner.

In 1996, he became Advertising Manager of Cadbury Nigeria Plc. At Cadbury, he was responsible for managing all the advertising, media and sponsorship and events agencies. Kola moved into mainstream brand marketing in 1999 as the Brand Manager of the highest value and the third biggest brand in the company.

Between 1999 and 2002, Kola grew the Knorr brand to achieve its highest ever volume and value. In 2002, Kola joined MTN to manage the business market arm and was responsible for the marketing of MTN Business Time, MTN Flexi and MTN ProTime targeted at the business segment in the early days of telecoms in Nigeria. Kola moved from this role to manage the MTN master brand in senior management capacity and was responsible for growing the equity of the MTN brand for enhanced market volume and value share. In this capacity, Kola was responsible for exciting and impactful marketing initiatives that have helped the brand to stand today as the biggest brand in Nigeria by Interbrand's measurement.

Kola rose to his present position as the General Manager in charge of Consumer marketing with responsibility for the MTN Masterbrand, Segment marketing, Value Added Service marketing and Retention management. In this role, he has been responsible for high impact marketing initiatives, award winning campaigns and is a major player in the brand's volume, value and EBITDA growth.
