Mobile apps gain momentum in Pakistan

Mobile apps are taking Pakistan by storm. The Pakistan Advertisers' Society (PAS) has profiled some of the most popular apps in the country:
FoodPanda: Launched in October 31, 2012, this app helps users quench their thirst for hunger with the widest selection of food from thousands of restaurants nationwide. FoodPanda is also fully available in India, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Georgia.
Zameen.com: Launched in August this year, the app allows iPhone users to access the Zameen.com real estate database, save their queries, receive push notifications and explore other key features.
OLX launched its mobile app in August. It allows users to browse through various marketplace categories, buy and sell with just one click. The app is also available in a number of other markets worldwide.
EatOye launched its iOS app in Pakistan in June, enabling iPhone users to order food and book tables at their favourite restaurants and food chains. Using EatOye, one can connect to more than 1,000 local venues 24/7 in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Kaymu: Online marketplace Kaymu.pk introduced its Android app in October. The shopping app is designed to provide the platform for buyers and sellers on the go. Kaimu is also available in a number of other emerging markets.
Carmudi: The world's fastest growing online car classifieds launched its mobile app in Pakistan in August.
Groopic solves the age-old problem of group photos always missing the photographer by seamlessly merging two pictures to form a perfect snap.
SMSAll messenger: This is an app developed specifically to suit the needs of Pakistanis, catering for both smartphone and feature phone users and helping the two groups connect.
