Indians elect new Chairman

The newly-elected Executive Council of the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA) met on 11th September. Saugata Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of Marico Limited, was appointed Chairman of ISA. He takes over from Hemant Bakshi who becomes the new CEO of Unilever Indonesia.

Saugata holds an MBA from IIM Bangalore and has over twenty years of experience in the FMCG sector, having worked for Cadbury (India & UK), ICICI Prudential and Marico.

“Our focus will be on making industry partnerships stronger and in particular on extending the support that is needed to help the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) come up as soon as possible with industry-wide accepted and accurate TV audience research data. I am looking forward to the exciting times ahead for advertisers, industry partners and associations to work as a strong team to harness the overall growth of advertising, which in turn will help grow businesses and the Indian economy", said Saugata on his election as Chairman of ISA.

Misra, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Global Beverages Limited, Siddhartha Mukherjee, Director – Chocolate Category and Media, Mondelez India Foods Limited and Bharat V. Patel, Independent Director, Birla Sun Life Asset Management Co. Ltd.
