May 22nd 2014: The World Federation of Advertisers will hold its annual Global Marketer Week event in Africa for the first time in 2015.
With more and more global advertisers excited by the growth story in many African economies and the potential to connect with the continent's young and growing middle class, the event will be held in Morocco next year.
Global Marketer Week will be take place in Marrakech from March 16 to March 20 2015 in conjunction with the Association of Advertisers in Morocco (GAM).
The global brand marketer event of the year and its flagship WFA/ GAM Global Marketer Conference on March 18 will address the key challenges facing advertisers globally and inspire marketers with success stories from some of the world's biggest brands.
Alongside these globally focused sessions, the programme will also include a special focus on Africa and the opportunities in this exciting region. Advertising spend has risen by nearly 280% in the last decade across the Middle East and Africa, according to GroupM. Morocco has performed particularly well, recording growth of nearly 13% in 2013.
Global Marketer Week is the key annual event for senior global marketers and is celebrated in a different city each year. In 2014 it took place in Sydney, in 2013 in Brussels and in 2012 in New York.
“Twenty-Fifteen is an important moment in the history of the WFA because it's the first time we've held Global Marketer Week on the African continent. Marrakech was chosen because of the rising interest in the growth prospects of both Morocco in particular and the African continent as a whole. We're very excited to be organizing a week of stimulating events in close collaboration with the Association of Advertisers in Morocco,” said Stephan Loerke, Managing Director of the WFA.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming the world's biggest advertisers to Marrakesh in 2015. It's a great honour to be hosting the first global marketer week in Africa and are looking forward to working closely with our colleagues at the WFA to create an extraordinarily powerful week of learnings,” said Mounir Jazouli, Vice President of GAM.
