The Colombian National Advertiser Association (ANDA Colombia) and its Board of Directors have expressed their deep grief on the passing of Carlos Delgado Pereira, who served as CEO of ANDA from 1992 until 12th November 2013.
Carlos Delgado Pereira, a lawyer who specialized in labour law at the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the Universidad Javeriana, occupied important positions through the course of his career, both in the public and private sector. Between 1968 and 1970 he acted as General Secretary of the Colombian Social Security Institute. In 1971 he was appointed General Secretary of the Mayor of Bogota and between 1972 and 1974 he was General Director of the National Institute of Radio and Broadcasting, Inravision. Until 1981 he was Executive Director of the Colombian Association of Newspapers and in 1988 after he moved to Paris, he was appointed Executive Director of the Institute of Science Policy, where he became General Consul of Colombia in Le Havre. His interest in communications and commitment to his alma mater were the reasons that led him to create and direct the Post Graduate in Law of the Communication at the Universidad Javeriana between 1995 and 2004.
Throughout his life, he received numerous awards for his active participation in society, such as the silver Medal "Manuel Murillo Toro" from the National Government in 1972 for his contribution to the field of Communications. In 1972, he was also awarded the Executive of the Year title from the Junior Chamber of Bogota. In 2000, he received the gold medal "Manuel Murillo Toro" which honoured his 35 years in the service of Communications. Four years later, he was honoured with the award medal of the Democracy Order of Simon Bolivar, of the Honourable House of Representatives of the Knight Grand Cross. The Embassy of Mexico in 2009 recognized his work with the Business Development with Social Responsibility Award and a year later he received the life award "Julian Ospina" in Communications.
There were many people, both nationally and internationally, who had the opportunity to spend time with Carlos that will join us in affirming that Carlos Delgado Pereira was, first and foremost, an exemplary husband, father and grandfather, friend, good conversationalist and mentor. The numerous projects and initiatives that he spearheaded will leave their mark indelibly in the communications and advertising industry.
