On March 13th 2013, Lord's Cricket Ground played host to nearly 300 industry guests at the 25th Annual ISBA Conference.
The conference saw thought-provoking presentations from speakers such as Jon Woods from Coca Cola, who discussed how the government should be encouraged by the fact that partnerships, instead of regulation, with advertisers are working. Woods said that during these tough economic conditions, the government's focus should remain on fixing UKplc, “rather than [on] unnecessary further regulation”. He cited examples of how government and business has combined to tackle issues like obesity and to protect children from inappropriate advertising.
Robert Madelin from the European Commission, who also spoke at the conference, underlined the role that the creative industries and advertisers can play in helping drive the economy. He told delegates that they have a responsibility to help drive the economic recovery, citing one example of an advert encouraging entrepreneurship in Europe (www.thisismyfuture.eu/).
