The Swedish Advertiser Association (SA) recently held the 100-wattaren Swedish advertising contest, in partnership with the Swedish Association of Communication Agencies.
The awards have been held since 1990 and reward advertising that works, i.e., advertising that yielded proven efficacy through high creativity. To qualify for the 100 Watt, applications must have shown that their communications have made the difference – and whomever finds the smartest way to achieve the right results wins.
The award ceremony was held in Stockholm, Sweden, on October 23. The international organisations UNICEF and Civil Rights Defenders were two of the top winners of the night. UNICEF won 100 watts in the category “Internationell”, that favours international cases, and 75 watts in the category “Ideellt”, that favours non-profitable cases. UNICEF also won 50 watts with their Christmas campaigns 2007–2012 in the category “Långsiktigt”, which rewards campaigns with a long-term concept that stretches over more than three years.
Civil Right Defenders was the other top winner and they also won three awards. The winning campaign The Natalia Project aims to notify people when a human rights defender is at risk. The campaign is created with the ad agency RBK and won 100 watts in the category “Ideellt”, as well as 50 watts in “Internationellt” and 75 watts in the category “Smart”, which rewards campaigns with small budgets.
