As of 1st September, Sandra Martinelli takes the role of Executive Vice-President of the Brazilian Association of Advertisers (ABA), replacing Rafael Sampaio, who retires from the organisation after 29 years of service.

“With his outstanding commitment and motivation, Rafael has not only contributed significantly to the growth of our association, but also to the global advertising and communications market. On behalf of ABA, I want to thank him for his service and wish him all the best”, said Joćo Campos, President of ABA and VP of Unilever.

“Rafael has been a member of the WFA Executive Committee for over ten years and a steadfast supporter of our organisation significantly longer. I want to express, on behalf of all the Executive Committee members, our gratitude and appreciation. It has been a pleasure working with him both professionally and personally”, said Stephan Loerke, Managing Director of the World Federation of Advertisers. Rafael was the longest serving head of any of the WFA's national advertiser associations.

Sandra has a degree in Public Relations, a postgraduate degree in Advertising and Marketing and in Banking as well as an MBA. Prior to joining ABA, she worked for over twenty years in the corporate financial sector as well as on the agency-side, in both public relations and advertising firms.

“Sandra's extensive experience on both sides of the counter will be very valuable in implementing the strategy of our organisation moving forward”, said Joćo Campos.

Reflecting on the challenges at ABA, the President explained that the goal is “to decisively influence the use of brand management in the broadest sense, the understanding that this is a competitive business differentiator and, consequently, that investments in marketing and communications are crucial.”
