National Associations Council (NAC) meeting report

The annual WFA National Association Council was held in Sydney on March 28th 2014, during Global Marketer Week. 23 national advertiser association representatives came together to share and discuss inspirational ideas and initiatives taken in their local markets.
The meeting was chaired by Mike Hughes (ISBA, UK). Mike briefed the group about ISBA's new Strategic Growth Plan that they are in the process of implementing. Also contributing were Jan Morten Drange (ANFO, Norway) who talked about ANFO Effekt - Effectiveness Competition, Alina Bain (AANA, Australia) who shared AANA's efforts in protecting industry's licence to trade, Lindsay Mouat (ANZA, New Zealand) who explained how ANZA was looking beyond its borders to be more effective and Ediri Orogun (ADVAN, Nigeria) who gave an overview of the ADVAN Leadership Project. Anders Ericson (Sveriges Annonsörer, Sweden) also briefed the group on the “Imagine a world without advertising” campaign the Swedish Association ran which involved the organisation sending a delegation to North Korea!
The WFA briefed the group on the state of media audience measurement in markets globally and this presentation was followed by Bharat Patel (ISA, India) who explained how ISA had handled a crisis related to TV Audience measurement, helping to protect the interests of Advertisers at a time when Broadcasters and Government were trying to shut down the TV rating service.
WFA also shared the results of the recent study on Brand Purpose run in conjunction with some of its national advertiser association members.
