Mainostajien Liitto, the Association of Finnish Advertisers, hosted their annual Advertising Day on 16th September at the Exhibition and Conventions Centre in Helsinki. Taking place since 1972, the Advertising Day has become a flagship industry event in Finland, providing relevant and inspiring insights into the latest developments in marketing, as well as a valuable opportunity to meet with peers and clients.

The event was attended by no less than 500 client-side marketers, agency professionals and media representatives.

“Will the internet replace television?” was the theme of one of the panel discussions, while young innovators were in the spotlight during the session dubbed “The brave reformers”. The speakers' list included marketing communications experts such as Professor Vesa Puttonen, Aalto University, Innovation Director Lassi Kurkijarvi, Lab Sanoma Digital, and Julian Treasure, The Sound Agency. The U.S. Ambassador to Finland, Bruce J. Oreck, gave a keynote on “What Finns should learn about marketing”.

“The event was a great success. There are other similar initiatives in Finland but the Advertising Day is the only major one still alive and strong after so many years,” said Ritva Hanski-Pitkäkoski, Managing Director of the Association of Finnish Advertisers.
