“The world around us is changing and the world of marketing is changing – here in Chile, across Latin America and on a global scale. There has never been a better time to be in marketing! For those who are prepared to lead, create and innovate, this is as exciting as it gets,” said Stephan Loerke, WFA Managing Director, at the gala event organised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ANDA Chile on 1st October.
Loerke also voiced his appreciation for the significant industry role played by ANDA: “At a time where speed is of the essence, ANDA Chile plays an essential role in leading the industry to rise to the new challenges. I want to thank the association, their President, Mario Davis, their Executive Committee and all their members for having been such great supporters of the WFA for so many years.”
The annual dinner held in Santiago de Chile brought together ANDA members, government authorities, marketing professionals and representatives of national associations such as Asociación Nacional de Televisión, Asociación de Radiodifusores de Chile, Asociación Nacional de la Prensa and Cámara Nacional de Comercio looking to wish a “Happy 50th birthday!” to ANDA.
The event was attended by the Secretary General of the Chilean Government, Minister Álvaro Elizalde, who congratulated ANDA on their Golden Jubilee and overall contribution to the local advertising market. “ANDA is an important player, especially in the field of self-regulation”, stressed the senior government representative.
The President of ANDA, Mario Davis, gave an overview of the importance of marketing communications, advocated for the freedom of commercial expression and the power of self-regulation and cautioned against an increasing tendency to adopt extreme restrictions on advertising, commercial activity and people's freedom to choose.
The participants also paid tribute to the first President of the Chilean association, Manuel Labra Labbé, CEO of Compañía Industrial at the time, whose family attended the annual dinner, while Mario Davis, President of ANDA since 2005, was presented with a special award for his professionalism and commitment to the organisation.
